Liverpool could still be toasting the Premier League title in just a few weeks’ time despite their slip-up at Fulham. The Reds fell to a 3-2 defeat at Craven Cottage on Sunday, their first away league defeat of the season.
It also saw their 26-game unbeaten league run come to a miserable end. Alexis Mac Allister gave Arne Slot’s side the perfect start, only for quickfire strikes from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz to turn the game on its head.
Luis Diaz pulled a goal back for the Reds midway through the second half but Liverpool failed to find an equaliser. Despite their defeat, the Premier League title is still within grasp. “I was close to winning the Premier League, I was close to winning the Champions League. Every single game I play this season for Liverpool, I just remember how close I was to winning this but I didn’t.
“At the end, nobody remembers this moment. For people to remember this, you have to win it. And that’s why we have to be focussed and ready.”
Liverpool’s next game sees them come up against West Ham next Sunday as they welcome the Londoners to Anfield. Should Liverpool be confirmed as champions over the coming weeks, then they would b
