Robinson Confident as Salford Bounce Back with Bromley Victory

Karl Robinson is upbeat about his Salford squad’s prospects after their recent win, emphasizing that the team is finally demonstrating its full potential now that they are back at full strength. Their 3-2 triumph over Bromley on Saturday, which marked their second consecutive win following a six-match winless streak, has further bolstered their push for a play-off spot. With eight games left in the season, Salford now sits six points behind the top seven.

    Match Highlights

    • Early Setback Reversed:
An unfortunate own goal by Bromley’s Ossama Ashley initially gave the opposition an early lead. However, Salford swiftly responded.
    • Key Goals:
      • Cole Stockton netted twice, with one goal coming before and another after Kelly Nmai’s strike, giving Salford a 3-1 advantage.
      • Michael Cheek added a late volley that ensured a dramatic finish for the home side.

    Robinson’s Reaction

Robinson expressed his delight at the win, saying, “I’m absolutely delighted with the win and on the back of the Grimsby win it is a tremendous return. I’ve always said that when my best side is available we are a match for any side in this division. We’ve had a horrendous run of injuries but this is now my side back to full fitness and the last two performances show what they can do.”

He further added, “Bromley were the better team for about 20 minutes, and they had us pinned with their high press. But once we adapted, I thought our performance was excellent. We showcased our quality at the right moments, and overall, it was a really good display.”

    Bromley’s Frustration

Despite their efforts to claw back late in the game, Bromley came up short when Cheek’s 18th goal of the season made it 3-2 with 16 minutes remaining. Manager Andy Woodman of Ravens (Bromley) voiced his frustration at the end of the match:

    • “It was a case of us making our own errors. We were the best team on the pitch, but that’s irrelevant if you give away goals like the ones we did. We gifted Salford two, if not all three goals. Yes, they took them, but we can’t be giving up the ball so freely.”
    • “We shouldn’t be in a situation where we’re chasing a game at home and handing over three goals—that’s my big frustration with how we went about it today. I thought, on the whole, the team did what I wanted, but every time they deviated, Salford punished us. Ultimately, that’s the level we are currently at.”

    Implications for the Season

The win lifts Salford’s spirits and enhances their survival chances, while also denting Bromley’s hopes of climbing the standings. Bromley now finds itself in 13th place, four points behind Salford. Meanwhile, Salford’s resurgence, fueled by their recent back-to-back victories, has added momentum to their play-off ambitions as the season draws to a close.

Both teams now look forward to their upcoming fixtures, with Salford aiming to close the gap and secure a spot in the play-offs, and Bromley determined to address their defensive lapses and regroup after a disappointing performance.
