Liverpool Ready To Offer €100 Million To Sign Ronald Araujo

Liverpool Ready To Offer €100 Million To Sign Ronald Araujo

Liverpool might be on their way to winning the Premier League title this season. However, they have lost the EFL Cup final to Newcastle United and were knocked out of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League by PSG. They will be looking to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window to fight for all competitions next season.

The Red has some departures to think about. Virgil van Dijk might be on his way out of the club this summer for free, as his contract ends at the end of the season. He has been a leader in the backline of the team and has played a major part in Liverpool winning trophies. Hence, the Reds need one player who can go on to replace him effectively.

Liverpool Ready To Offer €100 Million To Sign Ronald Araujo:

According to Fichajes, the Reds are ready to pay €100 million to sign Barcelona center-back Ronald Araujo in the summer. The Uruguayan has been one of the best center-backs in recent times but was linked to a move away from the club in the winter before signing a new contract. Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi have been the first-choice defenders for the La Liga giants, and hence, Araujo might be pondering a move away from Barca.

Araujo has conceded 4 goals and kept 2 clean sheets in 7 matches in the La Liga 2024/2025 season. That means when he is on the pitch, his team concedes a goal every 105 minutes. Moreover, the Barcelona defender made 1.51 tackles and 0.43 interceptions for every 90 minutes he was on the pitch. Araujo is also racking up about 1.94 clearances at the same time.

Ronald Araujo is a defensive gem—strong, composed, and tactically sharp. At 26, the Barcelona center-back possesses physicality with finesse, dominating aerial duels and reading the game like a seasoned pro. His pace and recovery ability make him a nightmare for attackers, while his ball-playing skills fit modern football perfectly. For Liverpool, facing uncertainty with Virgil van Dijk’s contract, Araujo could be a game-changer this summer.

How will he help the Reds?

He would bolster the Reds’ backline with his versatility—capable of slotting in at center-back or right-back—and bring leadership to a transitioning squad. Under Arne Slot’s fluid system, Araujo’s qualities could strengthen Liverpool’s defense for years.

Inigo is definitely well past 30, so Barcelona might not be letting one of their best center-backs leave the club this summer. However, they are also facing financial issues, and hence, a €100 million offer might tempt them to sell him with the possible signing of Jonathan Tah.
