A man in his 30s remains in critical condition at hospital following a violent assault outside a McDonald’s last night. The incident occurred at the junction of Hanover Street and Ranelagh Street in Liverpool, where the victim suffered a severe head injury after being punched in the face, causing him to collapse onto the pavement.

Police report that the man was in Liverpool enjoying a night out when the attack occurred. Four men from the Midlands, who are believed to have known the victim, have been taken into custody and are now facing charges of GBH with intent. The suspects include a 19-year-old from Redditch, a 26-year-old and a 37-year-old both from Birmingham, and a 31-year-old from Hollywood, Worcestershire.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Parry expressed his outrage over the incident, stating, "This assault has left the victim in a critical condition during what should have been an enjoyable night out in Liverpool. People should be able to visit our city centre without any fear of being a victim of – or even witnessing – an incident such as this." He urged anyone in the area around Church Street and Hanover Street at approximately 7:30pm on Friday, who might have witnessed the attack, to come forward and assist with the investigation.

D.C.I. Parry stressed the importance of public cooperation in bringing those responsible for such violence to justice, emphasizing that the authorities are determined to ensure the safety of Merseyside's streets. Police continue to investigate the incident as they seek further information from witnesses.
