OnePlus Nord CE 5 Roundup: A Strong Budget Phone in the Making

OnePlus Nord CE 5: Design and Display

Just like how the Nord 5 is a rebranded Ace 5 Ultra Edition, OnePlus is releasing the Nord CE 5 as the global version of the Ace 5 Racing Edition. There are some differences in terms of specifications, but the Nord CE 5 appears nearly identical to its Chinese variant from the outside.

So you get the same Nord 5-like design with a flat rear and front panel and an oval shaped camera module on the rear. It is expected to come in a white and black variant (Marble Mist and Black Infinity), with the former getting a special textured back panel. Meanwhile, the front sports a tall 6.77-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Performance

The Chinese brand released the Ace 5 Racing Edition with the high-end MediaTek Dimensity 9400e SoC, but the Nord CE 5 gets a slight downgrade with the mid-range Dimensity 8350 SoC. This chipset is still quite capable but the Dimensity 9400e is more powerful overall.

Thanks to a recent GeekBench sighting, the Nord CE 5 is confirmed to launch with the Android 15 OS based OxygenOS 15 custom skin out of the box and 8GB of RAM. A sizeable 5,200mAh battery pack is expected to power this device (in the US and Europe), which likely supports 80W wired fast charging. But other regions like India might get the Nord CE 5 with a massive 7,100mAh capacity. OnePlus may offer at least 128GB of internal storage, and there should be a higher 256GB variant as well.

Camera

The Nord CE 5 is expected to debut with a dual camera setup, similar to the more expensive Nord 5. On the rear, it is expected to pack a 50MP primary camera along with an 8MP ultra wide angle lens. For selfies and video calls, the front could house a 16MP shooter.
